As you may or may not know, the upcoming resolution of Apple’s next iPhone is exactly double of what the current iPhone offers, 480×320. The combination of a similar sized screen with twice the real-estate is gonna result in beautiful apps and a very rich multi-media environment.

At 320 ppi (pixels-per-inch), the iPhone 4G’s IPS TFT screen is also at the top of the list for image clarity. The HTC’s HD2  has only 217 ppi, with the Motorola Droid sporting 252 ppi.

Mozilla’s Firefox has a theme that is easy on the eyes and just as functional, however, everyone’s taste is a little different and default isn’t always beautiful. So today we come to you with out three favorite Firefox themes.

Up first, Tylerc’s Chromifox. Chromifox, as you may have guested from the name, is a coat of Chrome for Firefox. It is a very clean and professional theme that is super intuitive and very nice to look at. If you haven’t given Chrome a try yet, this theme may perk your intrest. (also, give tylerc’s other theme Camifox a try if you dig Camino‘s theme.)

Secondly, we have gigeher’s Purity. It’s simple and straight forward design make for a great clutter-free interface. It’s white design with light accents of blue make it a very stylish choice. This theme is still in beta but it is fully functional.

Rounding up the list is Spewboy’s Strata40. Inspired by Firefox 4, this theme is very reminiscent of the default Firefox theme but improvements have been made and it definitely trumps what is shipping with as the default now.

Daisy Disk allows you to visualize your disk usage and free up space by quickly finding and deleting big, useless files.

The Sanyo Xacti VPC-ZH1R is an HD camcorder that is worth every penny. I was able to grab mine from woot.com for just under $140. It came with an extra battery, 1GB SD card, and case. I seldom come across products that are actually a really good deal, so when I got my hands on this camera I though I needed to let you all in on what I found so impressive about it.

What I liked:

• Solid construction. Doesn’t feel cheap at all. Easy to hold
• Direct recording of video to SD+SD HC cards. (32GB Max)
• Awesome recording structure. The 720p video is captured at ~9Mb/s and is stored into a convenient h.264 MPEG-4 file.
• 3″ WideScreen TFT screen looks amazing. Video is crisp and the colors are vibrant.
• HDMI out via mini-HDMI port. (HDMI cable included)
• Long battery life. Good two hours per battery. Two batteries included.

What I didn’t like:

• Auto-focus didn’t always work the best. Your HD video becomes fuzzy if the lens isn’t focused.
• No optical image stabilization, the digital version lacks much, but at this price point you can’t expect more
• Quality of video drops significantly as the light decreases.
• 2MP CMOS sensor means your stills are capped at 1200×1600. That means nothing bigger than 5×7

If you can get this camcorder for less than $170 I suggest you go for it. It works seamlessly with YouTube HD as well as iMovie. It sells in a bonus pack that comes with a case, extra battery, and 1GB SD card.

If you bought yourself a nice new quad-core iMac and your looking to max out the RAM, you may notice that Apple charges almost as much as you paid for the machine itself. $1400 to be exact. 4GB sticks of DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) are not cheap, but I can tell you that you can find them for a bit less than the $350 a piece Apple charges.

1. [G.SKILL - F3-8500CL7S-4GBSQ] Running $169.99 a piece, these quality sticks are $150 cheaper then Apple’s stock selection. If you max out your iMac with these it will set you back $680, about $800 cheaper than Apple’s 16GB offering.
2. [Mushkin - Enhanced Essentials 996644] You can get a pair of 4GB sticks (8GB) from Mushkin for $334.99. That means if you wanted a full 16GB you could do it for about $670, $800 cheaper than Apple.
3. [RamJet -MBALX4G] At $699.99, This 16GB set from Ramjet is slightly more expensive then the previous two. Quality between these three manufactures differs very little.

Three and half years after Steam was released for Windows, it finally makes its way to a truly worth platform. Although details are still scarce, here is what we know so far.

• Steam’s current line-up of games will available for the Mac upon launch. This means games like Dragon Age: Origins, Battle Field : Bad Company 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Supreme Commander 2, and Star Trek Online.
• Portal 2′s upcoming launch will be the companies first simultaneous release for Mac and PC
• Steam Play, in combination with the Steam Cloud, allows a gamer playing on their work PC to go home and pick up playing the same game at the same point on their home Mac

The Nintendo Wii.

Wii Transfer. Wii Transfer can share your movies, music, and pictures directly to your Nintendo Wii using the Internet Channel. Copy Miis from your Wii back to your Mac and save them as images. Browse iTunes playlists and iPhoto albums on your television. Convert your movies to formats the Wii understands, either streaming directly from your Mac or for playback in the Wii’s Photo Channel. Wii Transfer can even manage saved game backups copied to an SD card. Wii Transfer supports the following formats: MOV, AVI, MPEG4, H.264, DivX,-MP3, AAC. Plus a few other stragglers.

No matter which console you own, it’s going to set you back twenty big ones. But in my opinion, It’s more then worth it. Especially if your computer and console have already gone wireless.

Setting up your own personal web server is always more work and less fun then you think. Enter MAMP. MAMP stands for Mac, Apache, MySQL, PHP. MAMP is a packaged bundle that automagically installs the aforementioned services on your Mac OS X computer, whether it be a Macbook or a MacPro.

“MAMP is installed in the typical Mac fashion: very easily. MAMP will not compromise any existing Apache installation already running with your OS X.

Apple has been taking its sweet time when introducing a quad-core MacBook Pro to the market. It seems however, that Intel itself may have pulled the veil off of this long awaited product.

AppleInsider recently acquired an E-mail invite to Intel’s Retail Edge Program. Included on this invitation is a promotion for a new MacBook Pro featuring Intel’s new Core i5 mobile architecture.  Specific details are still non-existent but at least we can confirm that Apple is finally getting ready to unleash a new wave of power into the Macbook Pro lineup.

Whether or not we see the whole line-up adopt the Core i5 or not is still up in the air, but more than likely we will see the i5 in the higher end 15″ and 17″ models.
