Apple TV gets major refresh, Does Netflix streaming!
At $99, it is hard to be upset with the new Apple TV. Especially with the fact that you can stream HD Netflix, YouTube, and iTunes TV shows and movie rentals right from the iTV you can also stream content from any iOS device (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad) right to the Apple TV.
The HD streaming is made possible by built in 802.11n WiFi and a HDMI port. It’s all powered by Apple’s revolutionary A4 chip. The step away from purchasing and storage to a pure rental system is something I’m not overly thrilled about,
however the fact that I can wirelessly stream my data from my Desktop to my Apple TV kinda makes up for it.
A huge price drop and increased streaming compatibility finally make the Apple TV a viable option for those looking to cut the ties with their monthly TV bill.

Skype, Meet iPhone. Coming this Tuesday!
Wait no more. A truly bold move in the cell phone industry will have you happier then ever with your iPhone!
Via CNET:
“Months after teasing us at CES with an announcement of Skype’s native VoIP client for the iPhone, the free Skype for iPhone will finally be available to download from the iTunes App Store sometime on Tuesday. We got a chance to sit down with the application’s principal engineer before the announcement was made at CTIA 2009, to see Skype for iPhone do its thing. While most of the features aren’t too surprising–Skype does want to maintain some consistency across its mobile applications, after all–there are a few capabilities that are notably missing, and a few iPhone-only perks that are refreshing to see.”

Pricing sounds like $0.00 Which, is always a good price.
Next Gen iPhone to sport video capabilities?
A recent article from AppleInsider is claiming that sometime this year (Late Spring/Early Fall) we will see some hardware updates to the iPhone. One of the updates being video support. They say their source is a very reliable one when it comes to Apple hardware.
Also, Engadget recently picked up on some goodies in iPhone OS 3.0. They have some screen shots for the new and upcoming OS that shows the option for video uploads to mobileme. Put these two stories together and it sounds pretty convincing that the iPhone will be getting video capabilities.
Now all we need is copy and paste….oh wait, that’s coming too!
The new iPod Shuffle.
As you may or may not know, Apple recently updated it’s Shuffle lineup.
Weighing less then half an ounce, the iPod Shuffle is a true on-the-go player. The included earphones feature a built in volume controller, a nice addition to the usually dull earphones that ship with ipods.
Doubling as a flash drive, the iPod Shuffle still struggles to make the $79 price tag look appealing. Such a basic player really shouldn’t be demanding such a high price. A $59 price tag is a tad bit easier to swallow, especially considering a 4GB off brand MP3 player goes for about $39.
The one saving grace of this iPod shuffle is the fact that Apple has finally found a way to make a screen-less mp3 more useable. The VoiceOver feature allows the iPod Shuffle to announce song names, Albums, and playlists. This finally makes navigating your songs and playlists possible. Whether this makes the Shuffle worth the $79 is up to, but I must say, this one is full of improvements.

iPhone- “Flash will hold me back no more!”
Face it, the lack of copy and paste is not the drawback of the iPhone. The only real drawback has been the lack of flash support in browsers. Apple remained mum for quite some time, but now, the news is out.
Apple and Adobe have teamed up to bring Flash to the iPhone. They will work together to implement a fully functioning version of flash that will installable on all current and new iPhone and iPod Touchs’. This is great news when it comes media junkies looking to watch them streaming vids online.
Another thing Apple is doing is advocating HTML 5 as a replacement and is collaborating with fellow browser developers Mozilla and Opera to perform many of the same functions of Flash but in a more universal and less resource-hungry standard.
