iTunes 8.2 to include support for Blu-ray content?
Apple on Tuesday equipped iPhone developers with a beta of iTunes 8.2 that appears to add full support for Gracenote’s video platform, which includes components for organizing, searching and managing both DVD and Blu-ray optical discs. -Appleinsider
Via Gracenote: “For years consumers have enjoyed the flexibility and control of Gracenote’s music recognition technology, standard in virtually all media players. Now, Gracenote’s recognition technology is now available for DVD and Blu-ray disc collections courtesy of Gracenote VideoID. VideoID offers device manufacturers and PC application developers a comprehensive solution to enable consumers to more easily navigate disc collections, and learn more about the films, television shows, and other media they enjoy.”
Although it may be later, rather then sooner. It seems that Apple is finally updating it’s iLife suite to include native Blu-ray support to coincide with the release of Snow Leopard, which is rumored to be bringing native Blu-ray support to the OS.

Quicktime X brings native screen recording to 10.6
“People familiar with the latest betas of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard have been reporting over the past several weeks the addition of a ‘Screen recording’ option in the File menu of the new Quick Time X Player due to ship with the OS overhaul later this summer.”
“When selecting the screen recording option under recent pre-release distributions of Snow Leopard, a recording interface prompts the user to begin a video capture then disappears. A small footprint controller in the upper-right hand side of the Mac OS X menubar can be used to end the video capture.”

OLED goodness to grace MacBook Pro at WWDC?
“An LG staffer has made the very bold claim that 15in Apple notebooks equipped with OLED displays will appear within months… the mole added that once Appleās unveiled its 15in OLED notebook, LG will then launch its own standalone 15in OLED panels later in the year.”
An interesting rumor to say the least. Would it be plausible to have this as a BTO option, or would we simply see this implemented in Apples higher end models?

The BT-1. A Wireless Webcam for your Mac.
The BT-1 is a Bluetooth Webcam produced by Ecamm and marketed towards mac users. It offers native H.264 video streaming and AAC audio, Two great codecs which should hopefully compensate for its lackluster 640×480 resolution. (Really? 640×480? maybe I’m missing something, and maybe it has something to do with streaming rate limitations from using Bluetooth (300KBps), but 640×480 seems a little out of date.)
Other then the relatively low video resolution, the BT-1 does have a few nice features. The thing itself can run for 4 hours before needing to be plugged in again for recharging. I don’t know anyone who would wanna video chat longer then that anyways.
It also comes with a nice mini-tripod that makes it easy to setup just about anywhere.
While I still can’t exactly think of a situation where a wireless webcam would be overly useful, I’m sure it serves its purpose well.

Enable streaming of HD Web Content in Front Row.
Front Row alone is a great app, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement.
Let me tell you a little bit about a nice open source piece of code called understudy.
Understudy is a free add-on that allows OS X’s Front Row to access HD Streaming content via the web.
It’s still early in development but Understudy already supports Netflix and to some degree, Hulu.
As the developer states. it’s still a work in progress. But for those of you with a Netflix account, a definitely recommend you give it a try.

5 Neat Mac setups.
Well, I have been trying to act like it hasn’t happened, but I feel that I must explain. I am currently attending college and my desire to not work a a traditional job finally caught up with me. I was forced to sell my MBP to pay rent last month and I am currently running Linux Mint. (Hey, at least its not windows).
I have know realized that not only do I miss the OS, but I also miss how aesthetically pleasing Macs are. Here a few pics that will hopefully help you appreciate the time and effort that goes into designing a Mac.
I don’t mean to brag, but I feel like my old setup was pretty darn elegant.

This Next one is of a nice Mac Mini based home server.

This next one is of a beautiful PowerMac G4 case mod.

This next one is fairly simple yet still very nice.

And last but not least, a nice dual mac setup.

Enjoy the pics and check back often for more Apple goodness!
Because everything you do is important…
The 2TB Time Capsule from Apple. Leaving no bits or bytes unbacked up.
Rumor has it the it’s in the works, a 2TB version of Apple’s ever so useful Time Capsule. I don’t know about you, but if actually did important work I would be super ecstatic about this. 2TB, double what Apple currently offers, is enough for serious digital professionals to actually utilize. The higher capacity device also extends its abilities to backup multiple machines. This new 2TB model is actually a great investment for small companies looking to centralize and backup their important data.
No word on pricing or date of inception yet but you can find the full story over at engadget.com
10.6 Snow Leopard
With Snow Leopard getting ready to pounce, I’m curious as to what you are looking forward to most.
The one thing I am looking forward to the most is implementation of Grand Central, or the ability for all aspects of Snow Leopard to be multi-core optimized.
