January: A big month for Apple

snow_leopardBoth experts and inside sources are predicting that January of 2009 will be full of great new products from Apple. The biggest announcement may be the expected release of OS X 10.6  Snow Leopard.

Snow leopard focuses on streamlining and enhancing performance. It does so with a handful of new technologies that are optimized for both 64bit and multicore processors. This streamlining is a welcomed change to the usual bloating that accompanies most new releases.

The second thing we can expect to see in the first part of 2009 is revamped iMacs. While I am not expecting to see an aesthical change in the iMac lineup, we will be seeing some impressive internal upgrades, most notably the inclusion of the NVIDIA MCP79 graphics chip. This chip will provide higher quality images and improved support for Apple’s OpenCL.

macminiLast but not least is the possibility of a re introduction of the Mac Mini. Specific details remain unknown but you can expect a $599 price tag along with significant upgrades.

Apple may no longer be attending MacWorld, but January is still its Month to shine.
