Open source your Mac.

I always have been and always will be a big fan of open source applications and operating systems. Not only because they are free, but more importantly, because they usually have some of the coolest features around. You could build a computer from scratch and not pay a dime for software and be able to do at least 80% of the same things someone who has paid over $1500 for software can do.

The point I am trying to get at is that there is a lot of great free software out there. A lot of it is much more popular then you might realize as well. Take applications like VLC, Firefox, and Adium for example. These apps crush the competition and they are free! You could spend hours on the web searching for great open source apps or you could simply head on over to opensourcemac.org. Opensourcemac provides a great organized list of all the popular open source apps for OS X. So whether you are new to Mac or just looking to add some more functionality, I strongly suggest you give Opensourcemac.org a visit.
